I purchased this unit at overstock.com, as Amazon was backordered. For <$300 shipped (on sale when I purchased on 11/28), and with all the positive reviews here on Amazon, I decided to take a chance. So far (haven't really used it much yet), I am very happy with my decision. Main use for me is emergency home power backup - fridge, space heater, microwave, lights, tv....just the basics to keep me happy & sane. Garage storage space is an issue for me...and the main reason I didn't go with a larger 5000w model. This one fit my space, budget and needs.
Mine arrived double boxed, I'm guessing drop-shipped from Wen in IL., undamaged. Unpacking & setup were a breeze - the unit itself is just over 100lbs, so no problem for me to unpack it alone. Attaching the handles and wheels took all of 10 minutes (if that), and the instructions were simple to follow (note: in the 2012 manual, they wrongly mention cotter pins for the wheels - there aren't any; just use the locknuts and ignore the cotter pin blurb). Other than that, the manual was easy to follow...apart from the lack of explanation of how the 120/240 switch places the generator's coil windings in series or parallel (read donny's or wisconsin-knight's review for a good explanation).
The Generator:
It got me some basic power back up for my fridge/freezer, charge phones and things like that. I didn't really stress it that much, the priority was my fridge/freezer. But this thing did a great job. It wasn't as loud as I expected to be honest. I was highly pleased with the gas usage, it ran all night and I still had between 1/4 and 1/2 tank the next morning when I checked it. We were out of power for about 5 days, and this generator did it's job nicely. Also it's not all that heavy so it can be portable as needed. Not stout enough to power a ton of things at once, but can definitely get you by in an emergency situation.
